A new version of the UCS Satellite Database, which includes launches through December 31, 2011, has been posted at http://ucsusa.org/satellites.
There are currently 994 active satellites in the database.
The new Excel format file is called “UCS_Satellite_Database_1_1-12.xls” and the tab-delimited text version is called “UCS_Satellite_Database_1-1-12.txt”.
The versions in which the “Name” column contains only the official name of the satellite in the case of government and military satellites, and the most commonly used name in the case of commercial and civil satellites are called “UCS_Satellite_Database_officialname_1-1-12.xls” and “UCS_Satellite_Database_officialname_1-1-12.txt”.
This version of the database includes satellites launched through December 31, 2011.
The changes to this version of the database include:
- The addition of 53 satellites
- The deletion of 33 satellites
- The addition of and corrections to some satellite data.
The addition of 53 satellites includes 5 satellites we returned to active status in the database upon receiving new information.
We have incorporated your corrections and suggestions as we were able, and continue to welcome your comments.
