Tank on the Moon
During the 1960s, the United States and the Soviet Union were engaged in a feverish competition to be the first to set foot on the moon. We know who won this race, but less about a secret chapter. The Soviets many not have sent a man to the moon, but they successfully guided two small robots by remote control from the earth. For 16 months between 1970 and 1973, these “Lunokhods” traveled more than thirty miles over the moon’s surface. With the declassification of the former USSR space archives, along with recollections by several of the key participants in the Lunokhod program, the true story of the Russian lunar robots can finally be told.[/i]
L’ho appena finito di vedere! Interessante e ben fatto. Effettivamente quella dei Lunokhods merita di essere considerata una delle imprese “storiche” dell’astronautica! Mi ha stupito sentire che i controllori da Terra temevano di fallire perchè nel 1970 la memoria dei “gulag” era sempre viva in URSS! Della serie: se sbagli manovra finisci in Siberia (destinazione peggiore della stessa Luna!)
Dopo aver visto il documentario mi sono… documentato… sul Lunokhod. Una storia veramente interessante… una cosa del genere la NASA non l’ha mai tentata (ok, ci avevano mandato gli uomini… dico nemmeno dopo sulla Luna…). Mi sono addirittura comprato un modellino del “tank spaziale”…!
molto carino questo documentario…in effetti una pagina della storia dell’astronautica poco nota…se per caso ve lo siete perso io consiglierei di andare su TuoTubo e digitare “tank on the moon”
